Best Crunchy Granola

I absolutely love eating and making granola. I make it almost every weekend for the family. Honestly it is one of the easiest Breakfat options you can make at home quick and very easy. The fun part of Granola is you can add your favorite nuts and seeds for added flavor. This recipe is naturally flavored with agave and has a burst of flavors of dried fruits. I normally add dried cranberries or goji berries to mine but you are free to add any of your from the dried favorites. The exciting part of cooking is you get to put your own spin. For my family of 4 the granola normally lasts us for about a week. Sometimes they finish it off before and tell me it was way too good! This recipe yields about 12 cups of granola.

Ingredients

6 cups Rolled Oats

1 cup Wheatgerm

1 cup chopped Walnuts

1 1/4 cups Agave

1 cup chopped Almonds

1 cup chopped Pecans

1 cup raw Pumpkin Seeds

1/2 cup of Hemp Hearts

!/2 cup Flax Meal

1/2 cup coconut Oil (room temperature)

Dried fruit ( 1/2 cup of cranberries, goji berries, or raisins)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees and prepare your baking sheet on the side. You can bake it directly on the sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Chop the nuts and set aside to be used later. Try not to chop too fine but where the nuts are in small to medium pieces. Don’t worry if it’s chops fine as it gives the granola a lovely nutty crunch.
  3. Warm the coconut oil on a low fire or set it on the counter to reach room temperate.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, add the coconut oil, agave then add the oats. Using a spoon or spatula mix until the oil and agave have coated the oats evenly. Then add the remainder of the nuts and seeds. Note: If you would like to make chocolate granola add 2 tbsp. To about 4 cups of granola. If you would like it super chocolatey double the chocolate amount.
  5. Place the granola on the baking sheet evenly spaced allowing ample room to mix while baking. Place in a preheated oven of 250 degrees. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Mix every 10 minutes to allow the oats to toast on all sides. Due to the sweetener you used in the recipe you do not want to bake in a very hot oven. Bake slowly and evenly for a crunchy granola.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 30 minutes. Add the dried fruit of your choice then store it in an air-tight glass jar for up to two weeks. To preserve the granola you can easily freeze in an air-tight container. I promise you there will not be anything to freeze as your family will love it!
